Health measures for all travellers landing in Madagascar from 1 October 2020

The Malagasy authorities and the various tourist stakeholders in Madagascar have developed some health measures intended to safeguard all tourists / holidaymakers coming to Madagascar from 1 October 2020.

The measures taken by the Malagasy authorities are summed up in the following eight (08) points.

Travellers are asked to:

  • Produce a return ticket when they land at Fascène airport
  • Produce a negative PCR test result carried out 72 hours before boarding the plane
  • Submit a signed letter of commitment acknowledging the Covid-19-related health measures in Madagascar
  • Complete a health form
  • Comply with all existing airport procedures, in particular, taking their temperature and using the disinfectant corridor
  • Use a local phone chip so that they can be easily monitored if a case is suspected or failing that, a working international chip, and provide an email address. If necessary, their hotel may require them to report visits / excursions made during the day, so that contact cases can be traced.
  • Commit to staying on the island of Nosy Be and the surrounding archipelagos to safeguard the traveller’s safety and that of the local people as far as possible.
  • Have a PCR test done 72 hours before departure – if the destination country so requires. (This will be carried out for a fee of 100,000 Ariary at the traveller’s expense, in various places to be notified by the health authorities at a later date)
